Mad River Theater Works presents\r\nFreedom Bound\r\nTuesday, February 17, 2015 - 10:00 AM \r\nThe Underground Railroad was a network throughout countless communities in the North that helped slaves find their freedom in Canada before the Civil War. A play with original music, Freedom Bound, revolves around the most famous incident in the history of “The Railroad” in our state; the story of Addison White, an escaped slave and his rescue by the citizens of Mechanicsburg. Weaving together storytelling, drama and music this presentation brings an important chapter of American and Ohio history to life. For 26 years Mad River Theatre Works have been creating plays that reflect the rich diversity of the rural Midwest. Young audiences throughout the United States have experienced these evocative plays that illuminate the past and teach important lessons for today. \r\n
