Tiffin Historic Trust 2016 Victorian Tea Parties

12:30PM

Tea for Dolly and Me, April 9 at 12:30 p.m. is the first of three 2016 Victorian Tea Parties at the Tiffin Historic Trust’s Grammes-Brown House. Guest speaker, Myrna Riedel, co-owner of The Enchanted Moments Doll and Gift Shoppe, Museum and Gallery, will share her extensive knowledge of the history of dolls, and doll repair. The Grammes-Brown House dolls (some having had medical attention from the shop owners) will be on display in an upstairs bedroom. The museum and shop, next door to the Grammes-Brown House, exhibits an international collection of thousands of dolls in charming settings. The tea party is open to all ages of doll-lovers, and even a favorite doll might like to join the festivities. Local history buff, author and storyteller, Lisa Swickard, will entertain the August 13 tea-goers with Tiffin Tales. Many people think of Tiffin as just another sleepy town in Northwest Ohio, but Lisa will share stories to dispel that erroneous impression. At the final tea of the season on October 8, playwright and actor Ron Hill will provide A Goblin’ Good Time. Hill, known for his frightening readings of Edgar Allen Poe’s classic Halloween tales, was so effective in scaring last year’s guests that they requested an encore performance. Each tea begins at 12:30 p.m. and features homemade treats especially prepared for the event. In addition to enjoying programs by local celebrities, guests can tour the home and garden of the restored Victorian era headquarters of the non-profit preservation organization. Seating is limited for the teas at the Grammes-Brown House, 172 Jefferson Street, Tiffin. Contact Nancy Cook at 419-447-0665 to place reservations. The requested donation is $20 per person. Tiffin Historic Trust members are eligible for a discount on their ticket.
